The "charge master" is the most comprehensive and detailed picture of retail prices for hospitalization and outpatient procedures. Estimated charges may differ from actual charges, which vary based on specific care provided to individual patients, such as pharmacy, lab and imaging services. To make this data more user-friendly, we have created a charge category field that allows you to filter based on certain types of charges (i.e., the room and board vs. the lab charges) so patients don't have to review all 25,000 items of the charge master. In all cases except where noted, this does not include the prices for physician services — this is for hospital services only.
